« Philippe Champion and Nicolas Pointard have been playing together within several jazz bands (Art Ensemble of Brest, Nimbus Orchestra, Apsis), Breton music (Faro) or street music (Repris de Justesse). Enriched with these adventures, they play in a duo since 2004, from a will to explore the sonic materials born out of the exchanges of tones between the trumpet and the drums, and also because of the freedom and space that allows such a formula. The music itself offers a second reading of tracks from Ornette Coleman, Thélonious Monk or Steve Lacy, forming some kind of beacons among a sea of improvisation. Those interpretations are both a pretext for some collective play, and a way to pay tribute to the musicians who left their mark on them. Shampoing has already played on improvised scenes (Cabaret Vauban, Atlantique Jazz Festival in Brest, Pannonica in Nantes, Malterie in Lille) as well as in singular places (chapels, expositions, farms) and has recorded its first LP “Champêtre” (October 2009) on Offoron Records. »
